The Yellow room

The "chambre maillot jaune". Inspired by the greatest stage race ever, the Tour de France, this ensuite room has a balcony directly overlooking the seafront, an ideal view to wake up too and fall asleep at night as the tide rolls in gently. TDF fact: each rider consume around 125,000 calories over the course of the 3 week tour, equivalent to around 500 croissants

the pink room

The "camera maglia rosa" As worn a record 5 times by Italian legend Fausto Coppi, the pink room reflects the history of Italy's greatest stage race, first run in 1909. To get through the gruelling 3 week tour, early riders such as Coppi often drank "la bomba", a mysterious concoction often made up of amphetamines, cocaine, a double espresso, a spoon of brown sugar and a shot of grappa. A slightly less aggressive version is available downstairs!

the red room

"El cuarto rojo". As worn by the leader of the Tour of Spain, the Vuelta a Espana, the third and final of cycling's prestigious Grand Tours. The leader's jersey has been, at various times, orange, white, white with a red stripe, yellow, a darker golden colour called the ‘jersey de oro’, and finally in 2010, the colour was changed to red. Luckily it has been the same colour since then which hopefully means less painting of this room!

It doesn’t matter whether it’s raining or the sun is shining or whatever, as long as I’m riding a bike I know I’m the luckiest guy in the world
